I won the luck lottery and was able to score Hamilton tickets – and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen!
When it was announced that Hamilton was coming to SF, I made it my life’s mission to get tickets. Okay, not really. But I was pretty serious about seeing this show. I received my Amex presale code and was ready to do this. I got in queue (online) and OMG was number 2,000 something! YES! I was so seeing this show. I waited patiently and entered the online site. And then all of a sudden I got an error message saying “Sorry, you’ve been kicked out and placed at the back of the line.” So within minutes I went from 2 thousand something to SIXTY EIGHT THOUSAND SOMETHING. I was absolutely livid. So I sent an email to the organizers. Strongly worded, but not mean because I’m definitely not about to piss of the Hamilton ticket people.
And they responded “you’re right – here’s your special time to buy tickets before everyone else”
So I got tickets. My bff and I decided to make a fun evening of it and ended up at Marlowe
First up? Steak tartare with a poached quail’s egg on top of crostini. Ahhh to die for.
Next came our entree’s. I ordered the polenta with a farmer’s egg, mushroom’s, and arugula (I’d just broken the yolk in this pic lol). Bff ordered the petrale sole with clams.
This was one of the best meals I’d had in a long time. Mmm. Every bit was just absolutely delicious and worth every calorie 😉
The night was off to a good start. We made our way to the theater and I have to say I was a bit nervous that maybe this show was just hype.
Long story short – it wasn’t. It deserves every bit of acclaim and accolades it has received and there is a reason it has become such a cultural phenomenon. I was worried it was maybe a Unicorn Frappucino situation. All beauty but no substance. But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. This show is AMAZING and easily in my Top 3 of favorite shows.
That being said, don’t even ask me to figure out the other two in my Top 3. I have so many!
(sorry for the poor quality iphone pic)
If you have a chance to see this show, you absolutely need to go. If not, watch Hamilton’s America on PBS online and listen to the soundtrack on Spotify on repeat until you’re heart’s content 🙂
